Can any one please tell why mobile applications are available in dot net Visual studio 2005 but not in visual studio 2008

Where does it say that mobile applications are only available for VS 2005? You are assuming something that is not true.

Although I don't use VS 2008 any more, it's news to me that it didn't have support for mobile development. See. for example, this link (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/sa69he4t(VS.90).aspx).

However, VS 2010 only has support for building Windows Phone 7 applications and developers targetting earlier versions have been left out in the cold.
