I'm developing HRIS that has many functions include attendance storage as shown in table:

Attendance ID	Employee ID	Date	Present
INT (PK)	INT (FK)	DD/MM/YYYY	BIT (checkBox)

now i'm thinking to set Attendance ID to be generating automatically by increasing one to avoid conflicting as long as it's primary key.

then I need to see attendance on another table of specific date clicked in celendar control.

any code available to reference on it?

So You Want something Like this

1>Select Date if it is todays Date then
           Add the Details In the Table
2.> if Not todays Date then
   Select the date

actually that is not a big deal as much as the second function which use selected date from calendar and view all attendance on that date.

case 1 : today's date allow user to insert attendance.
case 2: selecting another date to view attendance regarding that date.

I dont think there is any need to do that as this table already have the data table an
bit explaining whether employee was there or not

so your query can be like this

select * from Attendance A Join Employee E (Considering u have emp table)
on A.EmpID=E.EmpID
where A.Date=@Yourdate
