Getting error: Close the form before calling showDialog

Hi

I am getting error, "Form that is already displayed modal cannot be displayed as a modal dialog box. Close the form before calling showDialog" when I am showing form as showdialog. could you please suggest how do i check form is already open and if opened then how can I close it.

I'm struggling to think of circumstances where you could get this error because if (for example) you call Form2.ShowDialog from Form1, then subsequent code in Form1 won't execute until Form2 is closed. I assume therefore the situation you have is somehow different.

Anyway, try this code:

Dim F2 As Form2 = CType(Application.OpenForms("Form2"), Form2)

If F2 IsNot Nothing Then
F2.Close()
F2.Dispose()
End If

F2 = New Form2()
F2.ShowDialog()
