Hello All. I need help with a CSOM problem SharePoint 2013

Not new to programming but new to C# and SharePoint.

I will have a list of excel files along with their copy pasted SharePoint URLs. I will need to download each of these files to extract data, daily. Despite going over many tutorials and articles I don’t seem to be making any progress. Lots of great stuff on this site, I have learned a lot and can get lists of lists, sites files and folders from SharePoint but the simple task of downloading a file by its URL and name has me defeated! Can anyone provide me with sample code to download a file with file name and URL? Thank you in advance, And thank you for all of the excellent articles and answers on this site. I am pretty sure the sarepoint server is newer that 2013

If you have SharePoint file URL, make sure it has to be relative url and not absolute. Below is difference

Absolute URL - https://avengers.com/sites/spiderman/farfromhome/photowithironman.jpg

Relative URL - sites/spiderman/farfromhome/photowithironman.jpg

Here Library name is 'farmfromhome'

Site collection is 'spiderman'

Now coming to code to use CSOM to download a file.

This can be used in .NET windows, console application.

Add reference to below 2 dlls

https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.dll/

https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.RunTime.dll

public static bool DownloadFile(ClientContext context, string fileRelativeUrl, string destinationPath, string fileName)
{
try
{
fileRelativeUrl = fileRelativeUrl.Replace("/Images/","/PublishingImages/");
string sourceUrl = fileRelativeUrl + fileName;
string completeDestinationPath=destinationPath + fileName;
if (!System.IO.File.Exists(completeDestinationPath))
{
Directory.CreateDirectory(destinationPath);
FileInformation spFileInfo = Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.File.OpenBinaryDirect(context, sourceUrl);
using (Stream destination = System.IO.File.Create(completeDestinationPath))
{
for (int a = spFileInfo.Stream.ReadByte(); a != -1; a = spFileInfo.Stream.ReadByte())
destination.WriteByte((byte)a);
}
}
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
Logger.WriteLog(string.Format("Error during copying file: {0} with error {1}", fileRelativeUrl, ex.StackTrace));
return false;
}
return true;
}

Now coming to psuedo code integrating with excel.

1.. Create Client Context for SharePoint

2. Read Excel files with url

3. Iterate through each row in excel.

4. convert abosolute url to relative url(remove domain)

5. Call above functions by passing relevant information.

Hope this helps..
