Help! How to access another computer datasource if it is not connected to your network

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if someone can help me on this. I'm sort of new. I have a webserver on one server and I have a database that is located somewhere else but the webserver does not have access to the database server.

I need to create something call messaging inorder for one computer to talk to another. I need to get the datasource on my .net file to know where the database is at.

on my development enviroment, it's fine because the development webserver and development database are on the same network. for production it's a different story. production webserver and database are not on the same LAN.

can someone help me please. I greatly appreciate this.

Actually, I'm connected to an oracle database. the Oracle database on production side is not with our domain and does not interact with our server. The only way to connect to the production database is to use a program or application call Citrix to connect. I'm not sure how I would program for my application to capture the listener from the database.

Well, let me give it a try. Let me make this clear, You need to have 'some' sort of connectivity to your database server. Now i assume that you are using SQL Server database. What you can do is create a local admin user in your Webserver machine, say for example user name is 'localadmin' and specify a password. Your webserver should have this identity(That means your webservice should run using this identity). Now create the same user name and password in your database server. The datasource you created should use this user id and password. Then try to access. It should work.
