hi, c# question...on strings

If i have a string how do I find the first position(index) in the string where the character is not A-Z, a-z or 0-9.

I think this can be handled with regular expressions.
string t = "Tex$t!";
Regex regex = new Regex(@"\W");
Match mc = regex.Match(t);
Console.WriteLine("Found {0} at {1}", mc.Value, mc.Index);
The \W means any non-word character, which is basically anything that's not in the set of a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.

Thanks Ben, that's great. If I additionally needed to include underscore and hyphen in the same category as A-Z, a-z or 0-9, is that possible??
