well currently everything in Android development universe is Kotlin first. almost every day something new comes out and since android is a kotlin first platform new things will be in kotlin new tutorials for that stuff will be kotlin oriented. and it means that if you will not learn kotlin you will always be one step behind new technologies. and that's not a good thing in programming
