I have used jquery to retrieve data from a web service which uses a stored procedure to request data from data base.

might be your database is having many more data matching with character you trying to do autocomplete, so everytime you type an character is goes to db and user need to wait until is fetch it from db . its better to load all the data on load and by using javascript you can filter from array in frontend side instead of filtering it again n again through db . it wil make your autocomplete faster
