How do I activate a textbox if I select another option in a dropdown

Please refer the attached word file where can see one combo box and another one is textbox.Please guide me.

In win form you can enable textbox as below.
if(dropdown1.Text=="YES"){
     myTextBox.Enabled = true;
}
else{
      myTextBox.Enabled = false;
}

you can use disabled attribute to achieve so.
Note :- Latest browsers support disabled="disabled" but older versions used to support disabled="true". Please check you browser version compatibility and use value as "disabled" or "true" accordingly.
$("#dropdown").Change(function(){
var val= $(this).val();
if(val==="disable")  /based on your condition
{
    $('#txtbox').attr('disabled', 'disabled');
}
else
{
    $('#txtbox').removeAttr('disabled');
}

Hi,
This problem is solved using two ways.
1. Server Side
2. Client Side
Which one you want it is not clear in your questoion. If you want client side then I m strongly recommended to Sachin or if you want server side then confirm to me.

you just need to enable or disable textbox based on selected Archive value and simple css for grey background
