Hello
I have not worked with the backgroundworker before and I found a few articles on it online. The frustrating part is that try to use it in VB.net 2003 and the code does nto work because the backgroundworker is not defined.
when I declare an instance of the class it says it the backgroundworker type is not defined.
How do I add it?
I tried adding reference but I can not find it in a refernce and I tried adding tools tomy tool box but can not find it either.
I see many samples of codes but I can not make them work becuase I do not have the class.
Is this only for visual basic 2005 express edition?
I would greatly appreciate your help.
Thanks

The BackgroundWorker class is only supported in Visual Studio 2005 and above. In Visual Studio 2003 you need do create your own thread and do all the house keeping yourself.

Seeming that there is so many new features between Visual 2003 and 2008 I think it would be a good investment. You would get access to Generic types, implicitly typed local variables, object initializers, Lambda expressions, Extension methods, Anonymous type just to name a few.
You can go to Microsoft and download the free Express version at http://www.microsoft.com/express/default.aspx . Each download is one product such as Visual Basic .Net 2008 or C# oe SQL Server Express and others.

Thank you Fernando.
Since i'm new to threads I thought that would be much easier for me to work with. I think I should be able to get it done with threads and if I feel it would help to upgrade to 2008, I will ask the company.
Speaking of upgrading:
Do you feel it would be a great advantage to upgrade to visual stuido 2008 from studio 2003?
Thanks
