How do I convert to datetime?I am retrieving data from excel

I am retrieving data from excel and storing into a table in database where data type is date time.

Format of date in excel is :25-12-2018

Error:Input string is not in correct format.

If date comes in this format : 10/23/2018

Then no error.

Hi Karan,

I think first maintain one fixed format in excel then you can easily parse the date format.

Try the following code :
using System;
using System.Globalization; //namespace

{
    public static void Main()
    {
        string dateString = "25-12-2018";
        DateTime parsedDateTime;
        string formattedDate;
        if (DateTime.TryParseExact(dateString, "dd-MM-yyyy", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, DateTimeStyles.None, out parsedDateTime))
        {
            formattedDate = parsedDateTime.ToString("MM/dd/yyyy");
            Console.WriteLine(formattedDate);
        }
        else
        {
            Console.WriteLine("Parsing failed");
        }
    }
}

It worked but there one problem

It insert wrong date when I am retreving date from excel?
The date format is:05-01-2019
It insert 2019-05-01 (database) incorrect
correct date in data base should be 2019-01-05
When date is greater than 12 it stores in correct format.
2019-12-25(database)correct
Excel(25-12-2019)

string exceldate = "25-12-2018";
exceldate=exceldate.Replace('-', '/');
DateTime ConvertedDate = DateTime.ParseExact(exceldate, "dd/M/yyyy", CultureInfo.InvariantCulture);

Note
1) use this assembly ref using System.Globalization;
2) if u have any option to chnage date format in excel sheet change 25-12-2018 to 25/12/2018
