How do I render an ajax error page in a different div?

please provide an example where is div is present, where it is rendering now and where it should render..

Manas, thank you for replying. The results are still loaded into the original div where ajax call was going to render it. I was hoping to load the result into another div that is in _Layout page.

Try like this:

Put below OnException method in bottom part of controller. It handles when an exception occurs inside controller, it redirects to Error page.

protected override void OnException(ExceptionContext filterContext)
{
if (filterContext.ExceptionHandled)
{
return;
}
filterContext.Result = new ViewResult
{
ViewName = "~/Views/Shared/Error.cshtml"
};
filterContext.ExceptionHandled = true;
