How i get Promoted to be MVP member

I need to know how can i get the promotion to be a MVP member for Microsoft.

Is this related to Number of points earned? Suppose i started this year, how many points should i earn?

Is it related with the articles quality, no of views, or just posting an article that illustrate specific topic would be counted.
