For some unknown reason, I can't load Frogleg's code and so don't know how he's done it.

But, if the file is not too big, the easiest way to replace a line is as follows:

using System;

using System.IO;

class Program

{

static void Main()

{

string filePath ="whatever.txt";

string[] lines = File.ReadAllLines(filePath);

// replace 12th line with something else and overwrite original file

lines[11] = "something else";

File.WriteAllLines(filePath, lines);

}

I need to delete the line and add a new line. How better? Or better creat arraylist, reading lines from file in array, change line and than writing in file?

You cannot "add a line" without reading all the data that will follow it and then writing the new data followed by the old data. There are other options such as creating an entirely new file but you cannot update the file in place as you hope to do.
