How to add translation options for my website in php

Hi,

Pleaes follow the followiing 3 steps.

Step 1. Have to create the 2 tables in db one for language name another one for texts

Table 1:

CREATE TABLE `languages` (
`id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
`name` varchar(45) CHARACTER SET latin1 NOT NULL,
`code` varchar(6) NOT NULL,
`active` tinyint(1) NOT NULL DEFAULT '1',
PRIMARY KEY (`id`)
) ENGINE=InnoDB AUTO_INCREMENT=3 DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8;

INSERT INTO `languages` (`name`, `code`) VALUES ('English', 'en_US');
INSERT INTO `languages` (`name`, `code`) VALUES ('Franch', 'fr_FR');

Table 2:

CREATE TABLE `language_texts` (
`lang_key` varchar(256) CHARACTER SET latin1 NOT NULL,
`en_US` varchar(256) CHARACTER SET latin1 DEFAULT NULL,
`fr_FR` varchar(256) CHARACTER SET latin1 DEFAULT NULL,
PRIMARY KEY (`lang_key`)
) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8;

Insert the key and value to this table.

Step 2:

select the list of languages available for website and map it with php.

SELECT name, code FROM languages where active =1;

and make this langauhe list as selectable.

Step 3:

Once your selected or default lanuage will loaded with our languages text table content.

SELECT * FROM language_texts;

Create one common Db controller to collect the data from Db like .

public function __construct() {
$this->conn = $this->connectDB();
$this->conn->set_charset("utf8");
}
private function connectDB() {
$conn = mysqli_connect($this->host, $this->user, $this->password, $this->database);
return $conn;
}
public function runQuery($query) {
$resultset = [];
try{
if(emptyempty($query)) {
throw new Error("Invalid Query");
}
$result = mysqli_query($this->conn, $query);
while($row=mysqli_fetch_assoc($result)) {
$resultset[] = $row;
}
return $resultset;
}
catch(Exception $e) {
throw $e;
}
}
}

In the rendering page, please include this

require_once("dbActions.php");

$db_handle = new DBActions();
$selected_lang_code = 'en_US';
$query = "SELECT lang_key, ".$selected_lang_code." FROM language_texts";
$result = $db_handle->runquery($query);

and render it on the page as like ,

$result['website_welcome_text']; ?>
