How to apply index in asp.net

hi friend i want to apply index to database table for example there are 10 columns in my database & want to apply index on one column through c# at run time so how can i do it.please help me thanks

Can't you specify that a particular index be used in the SQL query?

but i want to change index from database i mean when i will change index in coding it will get change at database also thanks for reply
i have use this code to show data but i does not want to show data by sorting i want to change index of database permanently & i am not getting dataTable1 in code
con.Open();
   SqlDataAdapter sda = new SqlDataAdapter(finalQuery, con);
   DataSet ds = new DataSet();
   sda.Fill(ds, "QRHDQ1");

   DataRow dr = ds.Tables[0].Rows[0];
   GridView1.DataSource = ds.Tables[0];
   GridView1.DataBind();

I'd create a DataView from your DataTable and then set its Sort property to whatever column you want to index on.

For example:

DataView view = dataTable1.DefaultView;
view.Sort = "Name"; // sort by Name column in ascending order - for descending use "Name DESC"

You can then display the records by binding to the DataView rather than the DataTable
