How to Assign Role in Asp.Net MVC 5 application.

ApplicationUser is custom class, in which you can extend properties.

You can add current object of IdentityUser or ApplicationUser if you have created a custom class inhereted from IdentityUser.

Like:

_UserManager.AddToRole(CurrentUserObject, "Admin");

in first param you need IdentityUser Object and in 2nd param you need name of role which you want to assign.

You can call AddToRole or AddToRoleAsync as an instance method on any object of type UserManager to achieve it in MVC 5, like below:
var _context = new ApplicationDbContext();
var UserManager = new UserManager(new UserStore(_context));
UserManager.AddToRole("UserName", "UserRole");
