How to attach a doc file with database in asp.net ??

I have only done it with pdf, but I figure the same would apply. Use the varbinary(max) type in sql server 2008. In older version the type to use was Blob, but you should be good with the varbinary. If you have your file loaded into a MemoryStream you can just grab the buffer for the byte[].

I am using Linq to SQL and if you look at the attributes, the DbType used is VarBinary(max)

[Column(Storage="_LocationImage", DbType="VarBinary(MAX) NOT NULL", CanBeNull=false, UpdateCheck=UpdateCheck.Never)]

public System.Data.Linq.Binary LocationImage

{

get

{

return this._LocationImage;

}

set

{

if ((this._LocationImage != value))

this.OnLocationImageChanging(value);
