How to calculate summery of table cloumn and bind to textbo

i have a table with clolumns

Account Amount

MADHU 500

MADHU 1000

AJAY 2500

AJAY 5000

am binding account values to dropdown list,

when i select account MADHU,

i want to bind total amount(1500) to text box

how to do this

TestDemoEntities db = new TestDemoEntities();
string strddlAccount = form["AccountListModel"].ToString();
//i have dropdown selected value here,
var TotalAmount = db.Transaction_PaymentDetails.Select(m => m.Amount).Sum();
//am getting totalamount here but how to give where condition here(i want total amount of dropdown selected value strddlAccount)
and i want to bind this to text box , wher can i write code for dropdown change

Hi,
Assuming that you have a dataset "ds" with above records, you can use below code to get sum on selectedindexchanged function of drop down -
protected void selectedindexchanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
DataView dv1 = ds.Tables[0].AsDataView();
dv1.RowFilter = "account='" + drpdwn.SelectedValue + "'";
double amount = Convert.ToDouble(dv1.ToTable().Compute("SUM(amount)", null));
}
Note : the column "amount" must be of type float.

Write below query to get amount value based Account:

SELECT TOP 1 SUM(Amount) as TotAmount FROM tblEmp
WHERE Account = 'Madhu'

Once you get the TotAmount from DB then bind to textbox.

Textbox.text = TotAmount;
