U can use the below code if u want to execute api method using subject extension of RxJs :-
import { Subject } from 'rxjs/Rx';

@Component({
    moduleId: module.id,
    selector: "test-app",
    template: ''
})

export class TestAppComponent {
    private callData: Subject = new Subject();

    private assignData(): void {
        if (this.callData.isStopped) {
            this.callData.isStopped = false;
        }
        let self = this;
        this.callData.subscribe(function (data) {
            self._source = data;
            self.callData.complete();
        });
    }

    private getData(): void {
        this.assignData();
        let self = this;
        this.http.get('api url', {}, this.callData)
                        .error(function () { self.callData.complete(); });
    }

    private fnClick() : void{
        this.getData();
    }

}
