How to change connection string in Asp.Net

In my project I am using three tier architecture.So my database connectivity code is in another class,it is not on webform.

In my web.config I have two connection strings,i want to change connection string name base on some condition,how to do it kindly provide me solution on this.

Hi Aniket,

Create function or one property in that class then you can create object of that class and you can use function and property.
public static string getConnectionString(string id)
        {
            string connectionString = "";
            try
            {
                switch (id)
                {
                    case "1":
                        connectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["FirstConfig"].ConnectionString;

                        break;
                    case "2":
                        connectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["SecondConfig"].ConnectionString;;
                 default:
                        break;
                }
            }
            catch (Exception ex)
            {

            }
            return connectionString;
        }
Call Above function passing your Id as parameter.

First Add your connection string as a key in web config like this

then read the connection string like below
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
   string v = Request.QueryString["id"];
   if (v == "1")
   {
      string connStr1 =          ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["myConnectionString1"].ConnectionString;
   }
   else
   {
      string connStr2 =       ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["myConnectionString2"].ConnectionString;
   }
}

On my webform I am getting Id through querrystring,base upon value of Id i have to change connectionstring
And the connectionstring name and database related code is written in seperate class.how should i take value of Id from webform to class

Add connection string in web config as a appkey and use that key as per your requirement

To read the connection string into your code, use the ConfigurationManager class.

string connStr1 = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["myConnectionString1"].ConnectionString;

string connStr2 = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["myConnectionString2"].ConnectionString;

Please add you condition where you have your connection string setting in code like below
string ConnectionString  =string.Emptry;

if(yourCondition)
ConnectionString = Membership.Providers["FirstConnectionstringName"];

if(yourAnotherCondition)
ConnectionString = Membership.Providers["SecondConnectionstringName"];

//So on howmany condition you have
