Hello Geek, suppose you grid show student data (roll, name) on.aspx page ------------------------------------------------------------------------- OnRowCommand="Grid_RowCommand" > ' CommandName="Roll" CommandArgument=' '> ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Code behind file ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ public partial class GridView : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { List students = new List { new Student(){roll = 1,name = "Amit"}, new Student(){roll =2, name ="Rajneesh"} }; GridView1.DataSource = students; GridView1.DataBind(); } protected void Grid_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e) { if (e.CommandName == "Roll") { //e.CommandArgument // now get your roll no and search it into your db // or whatever you want to do } } public class Student { public int roll { get; set; } public string name { get; set; } } } --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- when you click on link button (roll no) OnRowCommand event would be fired and the control goes in Grid_RowCommand , from there you can get details of particular link who raised it. and get value from CommandArgument, and from here you can accomplish any task that you want to perform, like fetching data from another table using this data... hope this is clear to you
