That's not quite enough information. Are these tables guaranteed to have the data sorted? Are the tables in the same database? Are the columns the same data type? What is the database engine you're using? Is it possible that some records are missing from one table or another with a given primary key? What comparison do you want to make? What information do you need from it? Do you want to know which fields are equal? Not equal? Different in text CASE? Same string length? If possible, my recommendation would be to execute a query that simply joins on equal values, but this may or may not serve your purpose since I don't know what information you actually want to obtain from the comparison. select table1.field1, table2.field2 from table1 inner join table2 on table1.field1 = table2.field2
