how to count all the record of a particular field in db

i have a table where there is a column name budgetedcost it contains cost of 3 years

for eg

budgetedcost

2000

360

100

i want the total of all this for above colum my total should be 2460

i want to calculate the total cost of three years in gridview how to write an sql query for that

there is a field which i have to count aslo so group by clause will be needed right

i want three fiels
1. project name
2. project year count
3.budgeted cost

output
1. project name = name
2. project year count = 3 (this 3 will come by count of => 2001,2010,2011)
3.budgeted cost= 300

in this the project name , year and cost is coming from diff tables i made a join project id is common between these tables

When you add group by then your output will come like as, sum of 2001 =100 ,2010=0, 2015=200 . So you need to remove it. Simply use like this, Select sum(budgetedcost) from Table where projectid=300; thanks

yes i did add group by clause but still it is not coming

yes right i used sum but the thing is budgeted column is linked with another column which has years in it

date budgetedcost
2001 00
2001 100
2010 0
2015 200

im getting sum of 2001 =100 ,2010=0, 2015=200

i want total of particular project as 300
