i hope you have created sql DB in azure and set the server firewall option. you can give your sepcific macine ip as well. next step tp go to visual studio and text your connection first before using direclty into your code. Go to server -> connect to microsoft azure subscription. give your inputs and test connection, once connection is sucessfull then you can start using data source as sql connection string. SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection("Data Source=servername.database.windows.net;InitialCatalog=mssql;User ID=username;Password=password"); Note - do not forget to set server firrewall option,

Hi, Setup a firewall rule for accessing for Azure Sql database in Azure Portal. So the SQL Database service creates a firewall at the server-level that prevents external applications and tools from connecting to the server.
