As an alternative solution, you can use the following code to sign a PDF document with a digital signature. This code is based on GroupDocs.Signature API.
using (Signature signature = new Signature("sample.pdf"))
{
    // initialize digital option with certificate file path
    DigitalSignOptions options = new DigitalSignOptions("certificate.pfx")
    {
        // optional: setup image file path

Digital Signature may be done form pfx file on the server but now a days, Digital Signature is being issued in USB Tokens or Smartcards. Thus you need a mechanism to access it from Browser which is not easy. Please refer to below complete sample ASP.NET project with source code walkthrough for how to sign or authenticate using Digital Signatue form Browser.

You can use spire.pdf to create digital signature easily.
