how to disable all items in dropdownlist except top one record.

Hi everyone,
i have one dropdownlist and i am loading x,y,z items in that dropdown.
i want to disable y,z items and enable X item in the dropdown.
So end user can always select top item (X) from the dropdown.
Please any one help me.

dt is the data table first clear the dropdownlist items and then add the first item as shown
string str = dt.Rows[0]["column_name"].ToString(); DropDownList1.Items.Clear(); DropDownList1.Items.Insert(0, str);
