how to get selected row value in listview??

hello everyone..

i have doubt in listview...in listview i have save button in listview ...if i click that button that should show data saved as alert... am getting that...but if i click that save button in second row which was empty...it showing that same message...how to do that...anyone help me..

Hi Sreenish ,

Say you have the below mark up .

OnCommand="btnItem_Click"/>

I have highlighted the additional OnCommand attribute used . Now in the code you can define the OnCommand Method as below :

protected void btnItem_Click(object sender, CommandEventArgs e)
{
var control = (Control)sender;
var container = control.NamingContainer;
var textBox = container.FindControl("TextBox1") as TextBox;
if (textBox != null)
{
var lineID = e.CommandArgument;
var text = textBox.Text;
}
}

This way you should be able to get the value of the text box .

using command event how i can save data in datatable...

Your Save button present in ListView. That why the Save button event is not triggered. I suggested you to use Command event.

thanks for reply... but i want that in button click...in that eventargs is not having get item

If you want to retrieve the display text of the item, use the GetItemText method:

string text = listBox1.GetItemText(listBox1.SelectedItem);
