Hi Siddharth,

Take care the following things to improve the query performance-

1. Check the execution plans and identify slow running queries
2. Use the parameter sniffing
3. Avoid the using sub query
4. Avoid the using SELECT *FROM
5. Use SET NOCOUNT ON
6. Use NO LOCK
7. Create Proper Index
8. Avoid the using ISNULL in where condition
9. Avoid the unnecessary Joins
10. Force to recompiles (use the WITH RECOMPILE)

Ways to Improve SQL Query Performance

1. Avoid Multiple Joins in a Single Query.
2. Eliminate Cursors from the Query.
3. Avoid Use of Non-correlated Scalar Sub Query.
4. Avoid Multi-statement Table Valued Functions.
5. Creation and Use of Indexes.
6. Create a Highly Selective Index.
7. Position a Column in an Index.

Reducing the amount of data that is returned, by only returning the fields required and only returning the rows required. This is the most common, as you do it for every query that returns data. Adding indexes.
