find a tutorial book or take a class at college. I started with VB 2008 by reading a book, "teach yourself visual basic in 24 hours" follow all the lessons and complete all the challenges (if your book has them)
the logic comes with practice keep a working library of all your working code and programs periodically review what you have written in the past and update your code based on what you have learned so that it is more logical and efficient. also document your code with comments. lots of documenting will save you much confussion later when you are reviewing your past work and looking for a solution to a problem or rewriting
Math is essential! Particularly algebra. In my experience, algebraic thinking and logic is fundimental and necessary to competant coding and most programs are written in the world to deal with quesitons of math anyway.
