How to read a control in the gridvew/datalist

Hi

I have a problem in reading a control which was placed on a gridview/datalist, i have tried with findcontrol method, its nt working if anybody help appreciated

Hi,

If you have row command or row data bound then you can get the control from the current row event.

if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
{

ImageButton ImageButton1 = (ImageButton)e.Row.FindControl("ImageButton1");
Label lblstate = (Label)e.Row.FindControl("lblState");

}

If you want to iterate the grid or datalist then you can get the count of records in the grid and iterate row by row.

for (int i = 0; i < GridView1.Rows.Count; i++)
{
GridViewRow dRow = GridView1.Rows[i];
ImageButton ImageButton1 = (ImageButton)dRow.FindControl("ImageButton1");
Label lblstate = (Label)dRow.FindControl("lblState");
}

Similarly you can get the datalist.
