How to receive mail using SMTP ?

Hi, I dont know much about SMTP. I have configured my SMTP server. I successfully send mail using it through code in c#. But i dont know how to receive other mail in mailroot. Is it possible i receive mail in my mailroot. Or any other option ???? Please guide me. Thank You, bhavin

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transport Protocol. It is only the protocol with which mail servers send messeages between each other. It is only useful for sending mail. It will send mail to a mail server, where a recipient will connect and retrieve it at their liesure. In order to retrieve it, the user must communicate with the mail server using the POP3 protocol or IMAP4 protocol (there are others, but they are mostly outdated and not used by the general public). The most popular is POP3, which stands for Post Office Protocol. If you are writing a program that communicates with the mail server to retrieve messages, you need to implement the POP3 protocol, or use a component that implements the POP3 protocol.
