how to rename all files ina folder to incrmeenting numbers?

i have a visual studio c sharp form with a button opening a folder. how do i further this gui to rename all files in that folder to incrementing numbers?

im getting an error "ConfigurationManager does not contain a definition for AppSettings. what is missing?

You can Move() function as shown below to rename a file.
System.IO.File.Move(oldNameFullPath, newNameFullPath);
Here is one example with their implementation.
foreach (string f in Directory.GetFiles(System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["FilePath"].ToString(), "*.doc")) // (.doc)To get the doc file only
{
   string e = Path.GetExtension(f);

   FileInfo fi = new FileInfo(f);
   string filename = f;
   File.Move(f, f + ".new");
}
