How to reset the DC number based on the year in c# window ap

Hai,

In my project am using nearly 40 forms. Here am using delivery details forms. In this am storing the records based on the DC number. In this I want to reset the DC number year by year. How can I reset this in my project.

Here this DC number number will be automatically increment in that textbox.

Example:

DC_No : 1/2014...........................10000/2014 in year 2014 and rest this will in next year like

DC_No : 1/2015............................10000/2015 like this. Year by year like wise it will automatically reset. How can I do this in my project.

Please anybody help this question ,I need to finish it quickly. Please suggest any Idea to do this.

I understood your method. But It's difficult to use stored procedure for my table. So please tell me the another method without using stored procedure.

Hi, As per my understanding when insert data into table at the time only u can manage. Like bellow steps

1. check before insert record get last inserted year and current year both compare

2.after that if equal no problem insert record in table.

3.If not equal that time u can reset I'd like bellow query

DBCC CHECKIDENT ('Ur table name' , RESEED,1)

My suggestion is use store procedure for above steps easily manage.

Hai Raja,

My question is how to reset the DC_No number based on the current financial year. DC_No is like a serial number it will be auto increment in my project. Here i need to reset the DC_No every year. For an example:

This year 2015 I can stored the records from 1/2015 to 1000/2015.
Then next year 2016 I don't want to stored the record from 10001/2015.
This will be reset from 1/2016 to 1000/2016.

How can I do this in my project. Now are you cleared about my question. Please reply me quickly.

Hi Pavithra, Please confirm you need reset id in database right ? but no there is no code for this ? Your code is just get max DCNO from Table based on year. Please describe your question?

Am not using any stored procedure. My code is given below for storing DC_No in database.

c1 = new SqlCommand("select MAX (DC_No) from Sample where Year='" + label1.Text + "'", con1);
id = Convert.ToString(c1.ExecuteScalar());
if (id == "")
{
eid = 1;
}

eid = eid + 1;
}
con.Close();
return eid;
}

But its not working properly. How can I reset this DC number based on the current financial year.

Hi Pavithra, U can check out bellow steps

1. You can check current year and month

2. After that you can rest auto increments I'd like below

DBCC CHECKIDENT ('Ur table name' , RESEED,0)
