how to select all data according to month and year sql

hello friends i want to select my data according to monthly and yearly

i e.m

select all data like:

oct 2016 and show all data

nov 2016 and show all data

simple i want to show

nov month total post

dec month total post

Try with below code:

DATENAME(MONTH,SalesDate) [Month Name], COUNT(1) [Sales Count]

GROUP BY YEAR(SalesDate), MONTH(SalesDate), DATENAME(MONTH, SalesDate)
ORDER BY 1,2

--Fetch based on year and month

SELECT YEAR(SalesDate) [Year], MONTH(SalesDate) [Month],
DATENAME(MONTH,SalesDate) [Month Name], COUNT(1) [Sales Count]
FROM #Sales
WHERE YEAR(SalesDate) = 2016 AND MONTH(SalesDate) = 1
