How to send mail directly without using SMTP sever

Question

Can any one give me some Idea how to send mail directly from my machine without using ant SMTP mail server.... I would be very much thankful to any one who can help me out.. and don't wory it is only for my personal uses only... Thanks in Advance

If you mean, how to do it without having a mail server locally, it's easy. Here's how I do it (names have been changed to protect the innocent): MailMessage msg = new System.Web.Mail.MailMessage(); msg.To = "somebody@theirdomain.com"; msg.Body = "hello world!"; msg.From = "test@test.com"; msg.Subject = "Message from .NET"; SmtpMail.SmtpServer = "mail.somesmptserver.com"; SmtpMail.Send(msg); It seems too easy to be true but it works.

Mail has to be sent somewhere by something to get anywhere. This may sounds ridiculously obvious, but if you're not going to be using an SMTP server, what will you use? Either you have to build an SMTP server into your program or use an email server of a different type, such as UUCP, but you'd still be sending to a mail server, so it's hardly better. Consider setting up an SMTP server on your own machine or building one into your program. See RFC 2821, 2822, 2920, and 3030 to build your own mail server.
