how to validate textbox not to enter numbers in textbox

Try this
$(document).ready(function () {
  //called when key is pressed in textbox
  $("#quantity").keypress(function (e) {

The following is a code to check whether the entered value is a number.
// checks for number
private void validateText(object sender, KeyPressEventArgs e)
{
    if (!char.IsControl(e.KeyChar) && !char.IsDigit(e.KeyChar) &&
        (e.KeyChar != '.'))
    {
            e.Handled = true;   //input is a number
    }
    else{
     e.Handled = false; //input is not a number
    }
}
