How to write Generic code for database connection

You have to configure all the database connections in web.config. But you can set a key value pair also in web.config and update it which to be called

I mean that if sqlserver database is used today after some time another data base may be used ,i do not want to write the code again ,i want to make the generic code for this purpose.
