In your btnBackup_Click code, I am not sure why you have put the single quote and square brackets. Sqare brackets required if you have special character such as space in database name. But it is a good practise, anyway. Please remove it. It should be as follows: DATABASE IMSout Change it all 3 places. In addition to above: 1/ In connection string connect to the master database and not the IMSout database. 2/ Make sure any one executing this code has sufficient permissions to performe this task. 3/ In C# first check what does the TextBox1.Text contains. Is it a valid .bak filename? Does that file actually exists, etc. 4/ Give proper names to the controls. What is TextBox1? Why not txtBackupFilename? 5/ String.Format not required. You are not using it. Just make plain assignment. 6/ You don't really need 3 separate variables for the query. Declare just one and use it again and again.

hi, it may be bacause you dont have space to restore database check your c: drive space, if space is not there then make some space then try restore
