I need a suggestion on source control plugin supports both Visual Studio2010 and Management studio 2008 or 2010.

We are starting new Microsoft development along with Data Base development team. I need a suggestion on source control plugin supports both Visual Studio2010 and Management studio 2008 or 2010.

I found TFS supports both but its more expensive to start.

Please suggest me any open source or less expensive source control with task logging.
