it's not possible to restore a backup file from a higher version to a lower version of SQL Server.but another way is there
you can create a script of the database and execute it in lower version of sql server.

I think it is not possible. You can only move forward. This means, you can restore the database from 2005 or 2008 to 2012 version but can not do it in reverse order.
