IIS default page for MVC application

I am getting the below error after deploying mvc app on godaddy server.

HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden

The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.

When i enabled the directory browsing, instead of Home/index as my first page, the list of folders started showing to the whole world.

the site was running well earlier but after redeployment for last two days i am not able to make it live.

Hii Santhakumar Munuswamy sir and all other dear members,
This is really really strange that even for a MVC application ,i had to add a default page ,i don't know why is it necessary but as long as the default document was not set in th iis (ofcourse it is of no use but i had to set it) ,i was getting 403.14 forbidden error but after setting the default document in iis now my site is up and running.

Moreover in all over the internet,youtube,CSharpcorner or stackoverflow ,nothing helped me at all ,there was not a single thread where solution points towards setting a default page in IIS even for MVC application.

Now my question is why even is it necessary to set a default document in IIS when it is an MVC application,or is it just a coincidence that after setting default document the error flew away.

Please someone clear my doubt.

@Santhakumar sir, all the threads you mentioned are for web forms when i enable directory browsing it starts showing list of directories and as its an MVC app so how can i set a start page , and app pool is not in my hand though in plesk pannel i tried to switch asp.net verson, when i switched to 3.something , it started throwing error stating "unrecognized attribute target framework".

i also tried " " but no luck.

I really don't know what to do and how people easily deploy MVC app on goDaddy server, its very very frustrating.
In my local machine everything is running well but what is the use of it when i can not let it live .

Hi aashima,

you have to enable the directory browsing for the root folder (public folder). This error code says that you don't have access right for the particular root folder or directory.
