input item name from textbox with wildcard character * to fetch match

Is this a scenario where you have a textbox and you are entering some values into that. Entering those values when * character is found you need to fetch an item from the list. Is this the correct scenario?

 

Would you search for the item with the characters before the * or the characters after the *?
