inserting new year

i m trying to insert new year in database from asp.net by comparing which was the last year in the database.

ex:---i have a column in  database like 01-2016,02-2016,03-2016......12-2016,i have to check that 2016 is last year if i will enter 2017 in textbox  and after button click i need to insert in database like 01-2017,02-2017.... like that automatically. give me some idea how i will do.
