Internet Explorer 9 is now live

Microsoft has finally dropped support of Ctrl-Ins for copying to the clipboard. I don't understand why and it is a major inconvenience for me. I assume there are other keyboard shortcuts that are not supported anymore.

Microsoft is also not supporting the title bar. That is consistent with other browsers when tabs are used but when tabs are turned off, the title is never shown anywhere (except the title is shown in the tab in the taskbar). So the title in the HTML title tag is not shown when tabs are turned off and are only shown in the tab when tabs are used. Microsoft does not consider it to be a bug; they say it is by design.

Oh, that is terrible for Victoria. Well at least we have had one opportunity to see her picture and how lovely she is. Women with big smiles are especially attractive. I hope she returns real soon and joins in with all the fun we are having. I hope she has not broken her smile too.

If you wonder where did Victoria go after posting this message. Well! She broke her foot and out for 4 - 6 weeks. Victoria has joined C# Corner/Mindcracker as VP Marketing and Advertising. So you will be seeing her lot more after she is back. She will also be helping us manage events and summits. We may be having a MVP Summit in Philadelphia this summer.

Well I have been using it since Beta so I am used to it. But it actually gives me more space at the top and I have added the Toolbars. I have Alexa toolbar, Google Toolbar and few social Toolbars.

Alexa Toolbar is actually good. It shows the growing ranking of the site :)

Thank you for reminding me about tabs. I don't use tabs. So the title is totally missing for me. The space for it is there; just being wasted.

YES agree. Title is there on the tab but hard to see. I did not like this. I also did not like how my favorites are not menu anymore. You can click the Star button that shows your favorites.

Taking less space though. Same as Firefox and Chrome. Microsoft is definitely stealing their design, instead of coming up with their own.

Folks at Microsoft have no innovation at all (accept the Visual Studio team) .  All they do is, copy things here and there and sell it cheaper :)

No title! If Microsoft inteneded to omit the title, then that is stupid. The title is the caption at the top left of a browser window that shows the title from the title tag in HTML. The entire top portion of my IE 9 browser windows is unused except for the buttons at the right for minimize, maximize/restore and close.

I too installed after a long wait. Yes its slow in downloading and installation. Every softwares (browsers) needs to stop before installation.

Well, Mahesh, I must have a faster connection than you do. I don't know how long it took for me but it seemed to download and install in less than 5 minutes for me. I was caught unprepared; I was going to close all browser windows in time for it to update files, but it was too fast for me. So I also had to do a restart.

The first thing I noticed is that Windows Update does not (yet) have it for installation using it. I went to the Technet to get it.

After installation, the first thing I noticed is that the Favorites menu bar at the top is finally gone for me, which is what I wanted. That gives me a bit more room at the top. Also, the status bar is suddenly uncluttered again; the way it used to be. So all that makes my IE windows look cleaner. Apparently Microsoft followed the users this time instead of giving their developers too much freedom to do things their way.

I see there is a download manager. I don't know how it works but I assume Microsoft is following the lead of Firefox and others.

One thing is very disappointing. The way that Favorites are added (that tree view thing) is still highly inconvenient. That is something I use every day and it is a hassle. The same for the find function for finding stuff within a page; that also has not been improved. Two things that are among the top features I use and that I consider to be the most important to improve, they did not improve. I will post an update if I am pleasantly surprised and either of those have been improved so as to make them more useful and I just have not yet seen that.

One more thing. I was pleasantly surprised that all my options and preferences and such got migrated automatically so I did not have to go through the process of setting them up. In the past couple or so IE updates, we had to redo stuff like that.
