Java in Real World

Since Oracle took control of Java, finally plan is revealing. I recently noticed a redesigned Java website and noted various places Java is being used.

There are IDEs for Java; the Sun site offers the ability to download Netbeans and the Java development kit together, for free. Eclipse is also an IDE that can be used to develop Java, and Eclipse is available (I think from IBM) for free.

I would prefer to use Visual Studio for Java development but I cannot find articles about that. I am sure it is possible for simple single-file projects but I assume that if it is possible to do it for more extensive applications then there would be articles about it.

Every thing is Java there. Might they come up with new IDE soon like VS have.

How do we know what is different? For example, Java has been used for Blu-ray in the past so that has not changed. So what has changed since Oracle took control of Java?
