What are you passionate about? What are you interested in? If you have an electronics background, just go ahead with it (if you are looking for a job). We use embedded C in micro controller devices like washing machines, refrigerators and so on. Java on the other hand is a mammoth in the industry and learning simple java is not important. There are J2EE,J2ME and so on. However core java forms the fundamentals for all its versions. Same with embedded c also.
A straight answer to you question:
It is not bad to learn both of them. It defines how you master the basics if you are hunting for a job. Take any one as priority and learn it to become a master based on the job market. Practise onine coding challanges, create and work on sample projects. I have started my career in embedded c writing codes for a washing machine company you use in India and now I am working in c# and java. In the long run technology doesn't matter at all for job hunting. It matters how curious and passionate you are :)
