It's not possible to access the DB in Javascript. Try with Node.js

In my entire IT career, I haven't so far tried to connect to db from javaScript function.

Are you 100% sure you want to do this?

Typically, there will be some server-side code (written in asp.net, java, php, etc.) which would connect to db and do all db operations. That's what would be middle-ware.
