Hello,
I am trying to see if it is possible for the parameter field of one report can 'talk to' a parameter field in another report. I know that cascading parameters can be done, but this goes a little beyond that. Let's say you have a parameter for a 'City' field and you choose "Philadelphia" from the drop list. Can this city value be 'passed through' into another report's parameter field value, and if so, how? When opening the second report I am looking for its parameter field (also for City) to already contain the value of "Philadelphia."
I know that there is not a basic, built-in approach to this, but could there be a programmatic one? Can a formula accomplish this? A custom function?

1. Create a new paramter @mainParam in the main report by right-clicking on 'Parameter Fields' section in Field explorer in the main report.
2. Create a new parameter @subParam in the sub report in the same manner (This wouldn't be required if you already have the parameter in the sub report)
3. Right click on the sub report in the desing window in your main report. You will be able to see an option 'Change Subreport Links'.
4. Click on the option and select the @mainParam and transfer it to the sub report using '>' button.
5. Select the appropriate field in the sub report to map to
6. Click ok.
