I guess Microsoft is supporting MonoTouch and MonoDroid development, indirectly.
SUSE is the company that owned (bought Novell) MonoTouch and MonoDroid products.
Microsoft and SUSE signs $100 million, 5 years deal.

There's a problem with your first link which is the same as the second, but here's one I found myself about the $100 million deal:

I don't know whether this means that Microsoft are indirectly supporting Xamarin or not - they'd probably deny that it was - but it certainly does them no harm.
